Live Events
From my first position at MTV, right through my time at Netflix, Live Production and Experiential Design has been a large component of my career.
I have a passion for designing and producing fan-first experiences, that tell a compelling narrative and draw in audiences.
Two of my favorite recent examples can be found below. For both of these campaigns, I was responsible for strategy, pitching concepts, and creative oversight once the projects were underway.
One Piece Premiere Event
For this massive premiere, I designed a fan-centric event at the iconic Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles. Our goal was to create a free event that would galvanize and excite fans, and create positive word of mouth for the soon-to-be-released series.
For the event, we designed many moments to create community with these diehard fans.
We had large scale photo moments, (including a replica of the prow of the iconic pirate ship, the Going Merry), a bar that was redesigned to look like a restaurant from show, themed carnival games and rides, a live musical performance, and we capped everything off with an ambitious surprise drone shows.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Avatar provided a fun opportunity to showcase our charismatic cast to curious fans. To do this we designed and participated in a few key events.
Vancouver Fan Expo
Avatar: The Last Airbender was shot in Vancouver, with a primarily Canadian cast, so when an opportunity presented itself at Vancouver Fan Expo, we jumped to action to create an immersive fan experience at this comic con.
With two interactive photo moments, limited edition merch giveaways, and special appearances by the charming cast, our Avatar event space became the center for the Vancouver Fan Expo. And created a once-in-lifetime experience for Comic Con attendees.
Los Angeles Premiere “Appa Bus”
For our Red Carpet Premiere in Los Angeles, we designed a fully functional “Appa Bus”, inspired by the beloved flying buffalo creature from the show.
The Appa Bus was a converted double-decker bus, covered in textured fur, and had a build-out at the top so that fans could “ride” on top of Appa.
Not only did the cast arrive to the red carpet on the fuzzy bus, but we made the themed vehicle available throughout Los Angeles for fans to ride on.
